Born in Film, Live on Campus: How VenusLiv Air Powered a Full-Day University Podcast Production

By Hollyland | January 19, 2026

Hollyland’s VenusLiv Air live streaming camera delivered reliable, broadcast-ready visuals for a full-day university podcast production, helping a small creative team run a three-camera livestream with confidence, clarity, and control.

“VenusLiv Air is a really great product for podcasting. It’s not that expensive, but it delivers high-quality video.”

Meet Franz Lopez & Born in Film

Based in the Philippines, Franz Lopez is a visual storyteller with a background in journalism, documentary, and branded content, and one of the organizers behind Born in Film, a non-profit creative community dedicated to building a sustainable and diverse ecosystem for visual storytellers.

Born in Film operates as both a creative platform and an educational hub, showcasing photography across different genres and mediums while sharing insights on new technology, reviews, and production workflows. Through workshops, podcasts, and learning initiatives, the organization aims to expand access to creative tools and knowledge for storytellers at every level.

The Project: A Full-Day University Podcast Livestream

The project took place at Ugnayang La Salle, De La Salle University Dasmarinas in Cavite, Philippines, as part of the university’s PRISM podcast program. The production featured a host and a guest speaker in a three-camera setup, livestreamed continuously across a scheduled 10-hour full day.

Despite operating with a compact crew of six, the livestream reached a peak of 9,000 views, requiring consistent image quality, reliable switching, and stable operation over extended hours.

Crew Structure

  • 1 Host
  • 1 Live Director
  • 1 Live Switcher
  • 2 Camera Operators / Technical Support
  • 1 Social Media Manager

The podcast was held inside an indoor gymnasium. To ensure stable connectivity in a challenging indoor environment, the team relied on Starlink for internet access, allowing the livestream to remain uninterrupted throughout the day.

Why VenusLiv Air

Before VenusLiv Air, the team had relied on action cameras, which presented limitations for podcast production. Ultra-wide fields of view and weak low-light performance made it difficult to achieve a natural, professional look suitable for long-form conversation.

VenusLiv Air was introduced as the main camera to address these challenges. Designed specifically for live production, it delivered tighter framing, improved low-light performance, and a more refined image suitable for a university podcast setting.

“One of the top-of-the-line cameras that can compete with mirrorless cameras and DSLRs.”

Solving Real Production Challenges

During the 10-hour livestream, VenusLiv Air demonstrated the consistency and reliability needed for extended productions. As the primary camera, it provided clean, stable visuals that held up throughout long sessions without requiring constant adjustment.

In the indoor gymnasium environment, lighting conditions were far from ideal. VenusLiv Air’s image quality allowed the team to maintain clear, balanced visuals, avoiding the flat or distorted look often associated with action cameras in low-light spaces.

With the live director and switcher coordinating camera feeds in real time, VenusLiv Air integrated smoothly into the multi-camera workflow, supporting confident live switching and on-the-fly direction.

Takeaways

For Franz Lopez and the Born in Film team, VenusLiv Air proved to be a practical and capable solution for long-form podcast livestreaming. By delivering high-quality video output in challenging indoor conditions, it helped elevate the visual standard of a university production without the complexity or cost of traditional mirrorless or DSLR setups.

Reliable over long hours and adaptable to a small crew workflow, VenusLiv Air enabled the team to focus on storytelling, conversation, and audience engagement rather than technical limitations.
